NICE Back Pain Guidance
You may have been watching media coverage of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance on the management of persistent non-specific low back pain. This NHS organisation is responsible for providing national guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health. The message is positive for physiotherapy and our current approach to managing persistent low back pain. The main messages are:
- Up to 9 sessions of manual therapy may be helpful.
- Up to 10 sessions of acupuncture may be helpful.
- Supervised exercise programmes may be helpful.
- Early referral for combined physical and psychological treatment may be helpful for those who have failed physical treatment or psychosocial issue.
So sort that back out today and call for an appointment on 01483 424505
A thoughtful, efficient and effective service.
