Suitcase Injuries
The holidays are now upon us, but beware the suitcase injuries....your suitcase may well have wheels for pulling along, but there are times when you are simply unable to avoid lifting your bag on and off the scales at check in, on and off the carousel, in and out of the car or coach, to name but a few.
Back strains are commonplace after lifting heavy, unwieldy and awkward objects, so here are a few top tips to help you to prevent injury and enjoy your holiday more...
- If someone offers you help - take it!!!
- Keep you suitcase or bag as light and compact as possible.
- Split luggage between two bags.
- Use a suitcase with wheels.
- Can you thin out your packing?
- Keep the case as close to you as possible.
- Slide the bag towards you and push it away from you if possible rather than taking the full weight further away from your body.
- Make sure the way is clear before you lift.
- Remember to bend your knees for lifting.
- Use a luggage trolley.
- Take care at carousels - ensure you have plenty of space around you and remember to bend your knees when you lift.
- Wear flat comfortable footwear - your base is much more stable and lifting is safer, you are less likely to stumble.
- No swivelling around with case remember to move your feet .
Above all......have a great time!
