Breathing Pattern Disorders and Breathing Re-education
Breathing is an automatic process with air moving in and out of the lungs in response to differences in atmospheric pressure and in any one day a typical adult will take around 33,000 breaths.
Sometimes our breathing may be affected by environmental or physiological conditions and our physiotherapists are able to assess your physical ability, trunk, rib cage and spinal mobility, respiratory muscle control and pattern of breathing.
There are many factors which may cause a disturbance in our breathing patterns and these may present a multitude of symptoms including breathlessness, over-breathing, shallow breathing, light headedness and over reliance on inhalers.
Following a full assessment including medical history and where appropriate consultation with your primary healthcare provider we can suggest and implement treatment strategies designed to help your breathing and get you back to fitness.
